I gave up my morning ritual coffee indulgences a long time ago but have missed having that hot, delicious, fragrant latte start to my day. If you’re looking to cut the caffeine and swap out your favorite drink for a new one, this is my suggestion. Roasted Dandelion Root Tea.
It does not taste like coffee, although it’s been called a good substitute. I agree it’s a great swap but they are very different in smell and taste. Not bad, just different.
Morning routines keep me sane. After hydrating with water, my go-to cup of joy is this Dandelion Root Latte sweetened with honey. I add a splash of homemade almond milk creamer and sip it slowly in my favorite chair while reading my morning bible verses.
Truth be told, I brew a big batch of this and pour it in my thermos for later. It’s that good!
Why dandelion root? Here are some of the benefits:
- Caffeine free
- Tastes great
- Detoxifies the liver
- Loaded with antioxidants
- Reduces water weight
- Great for digestion
Make yourself a cup and you’ll see what I mean. It’s delicious!
- 2 Tablespoons *Roasted Dandelion Root
- 3-4 cups water (depending on how strong you want it to be)
Add Dandelion Root and water to pot and bring to boil. Let it simmer on very low for about 15 minutes. Strain and enjoy with your creamer and sweetener of choice.
*I buy this Raw Dandelion Root and save some money by roasting it myself on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper. 15 minutes at 375° F, then let it cool and store in airtight canister. Easy!
Drink to your health!
