Ever get the munchies? I’d say the majority of us do. And having savory snack options at the ready is a great idea!
Raw vegans have it easy when it comes to sweet snacks like fresh fruit or desserts but savory snacks are a little more challenging. I mean, there’s only so many ways to dress up zucchini noodles.
If you’re in the mood for a crispy, savory, super good-for-you cracker, this recipe is for you!
Flax Crackers Recipe:
- 4 cups sweet cherry tomatoes
- ½ cup golden flax seeds
- ½ cup ground golden flax
- ¼ cup fresh basil
- 3 tablespoons Italian herb mix
- 3 sweet onions, chopped
- 2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ¾ teaspoon salt
Add all ingredients to a large food processor like this one. Process until everything is broken down and well incorporated.
Spread thinly on parchment paper or a nonstick tray and dehydrate at 115° F until crispy. I leave mine to dry for at least 10 hours or overnight until mid-morning the next day. Dry time depends on how thick or thin you spread your crackers on that tray. You could optionally dry these in the oven on the lowest setting for an hour or two. Make sure to keep an eye on them though. They’re ready when crispy and easily snap.
Break apart by hand and store in an airtight container. If completely dry, these will keep for up to one year in the pantry.
If you’re looking for the perfect cashew cheese to go with these crackers, I have that for you right here. But these crackers work great with a salad, topped with avocado and tomato, or just on their own.
