Chocolate Milkshake Smoothie Bowl

I learned long ago that nut butter, banana, and chocolate are heavenly together. Make it chilled and it’s a real treat!

It’s versatile enough that you could swap out the bananas for different ingredients. Something similar in texture, with a mild flavor — like avocado, soaked cashews, coconut yogurt, chia or flax seeds, or even zucchini.  All would lend their creamy texture well to this frozen dessert.

So, if you have a banana allergy — or any fruit allergy for that matter. You have options! Customize to your heart’s content.

If you’d rather have this as a smoothie, just increase the almond milk to at least one cup, or enough for desired consistency.

Here’s my recipe:

  • 2 bananas, sliced and frozen – approx 1 cup
  • 1 Tablespoon raw cacao powder
  • 1 Tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1 Tablespoon raw almond butter
  • 1/4 cup almond milk (or enough to blend)

Blend well. Garnish with bananas, coconut flakes, cacao nibs, and almond butter drizzle or pick your favorites and decorate as you wish.

This would blend best in a smaller blender like the Ninja, or you could double the recipe for your larger blender. Don’t be selfish, make enough to share or make a bigger bowl all for yourself! That’s what I would do. 😉
