Is Your Food Hurting or Healing You?

The lie most people believe about food is that it can’t hurt you. If it tastes good eat it. If you crave it, have it.

The truth is, everything you eat either heals you or hurts you. It’s not a matter of opinion or belief. Countless studies show that a diet high in processed foods and sugars leads to disease.

Morgan Spurlock did a documentary called “Supersize Me” where he eats every one of his meals at McDonald’s for a month. He has the whole thing monitored by doctors. As the month progresses, we see his health decline, his organs begin to fail, his energy is very low and a whole host of other weird symptoms begin to plague him — all this within a relatively short period of time.

The same is true of anyone who consumes a diet primarily of fast foods, sugars, processed foods… it’s a risky lifestyle that increases the likelihood of disease. Still believe food can’t hurt? Heart disease, immune disorders, digestive problems, skin issues, stamina decline — all of these are potentially the direct result of food.

But what if it didn’t have to be that way? What if instead of being tired all the time, you had loads of energy and motivation? What if you were able to focus and concentrate without the use of caffeine or other stimulants? What if you could lose unwanted weight without killing yourself at the gym or starving on some diet?

When I discovered the simple answer to great health I couldn’t believe how easy it was. It had been under my nose this whole time. I just never gave it a shot because my misconceptions had me rejecting the whole thing before I even tried it.

I’m talking about fruits and vegetables, uncooked — full of nutrients and living enzymes. I’m talking about being Raw Vegan.

Most people ease their way in by replacing a meal or two a day with a fruit and veggie smoothie or salad.

Here’s one simple snack that is super low fat, has no refined sugars, and is good for you! It’s loaded with healthy fiber and complex carbohydrates to give you the energy burst you need without the subsequent crash.

 

Banana Bread Bites:

  • 1 cup oat flour (grind oats in food processor or high speed blender until fine)
  • 1/2 cup freeze dried bananas
  • 6 Medjool dates (super soft, if they’re a little on the dry side – just soak them in warm water for about 10-15 minutes and drain well)

Add the first two ingredients to a food processor and process until flour-like. Add the dates, one at a time, until everything gets sticky. You could roll the dough in to bite size pieces or press in to a pan lined with plastic wrap or parchment paper. Set in fridge to firm up. Enjoy!
