Sweet Spice: Superfood Trail Mix

If you came to my house, you would find an assortment of homemade snacks. We do not lack for snacks!

Part of the reason is, my husband is always searching for something to munch on and I am always creating something new. We compliment each other so well.

Here’s my latest creation. This sweet trail mix is amazing! The different nuts and seeds make for a pleasant texture combination and the sweet and salty play well together.

This will be your new favorite snack!

Sweet Spice Trail Mix:

  • 1 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 1 cup hazelnuts
  • 1 1/4 cup walnuts
  • 1 cup coconut flakes
  • 3 Tablespoons lucuma powder
  • 3/4 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon Braggs Aminos
  • 3/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Soak the sunflower and pumpkin seeds, hazelnuts and walnuts, in water for 8 hours or overnight. May soak them all together. Drain well and then add the nuts to a food processor and pulse but don’t chop too fine. Set aside.

Soak the coconut flakes for about 30 minutes. Set aside.

Mix the remaining ingredients together to form a paste and then add the coconut flakes and chopped nuts. Mix well to combine and lay flat on non stick dehydrator sheet. Dehydrate at 115° for 8-12 hours or until crunchy.

Alternately, you could set these in the oven on the lowest setting for an hour or so instead. Make sure to watch it though so it doesn’t burn. It should resemble granola when done. Dried and crunchy.

Will store at room temperature for up to one year, if you don’t eat it all sooner. 😉

Enjoy on your next hike or snack craving.
